Today the Transport Museum Shows Restored Antique Automobiles
Today at the headquarters of the Transport Museum, starting at 11 in the morning, several units from more than half a century ago will be shown to the public, including an 85-year-old automobile that has been put back into operation. This vehicle was donated by Don Armando Planchart to the institution. At the same time, an exhibition by the artist Luis Alvarez de Lugo will be inaugurated. The photo corresponds to one of his paintings. This painter, together with a graphic documentary that has given atmosphere to the recovered Museum and black and white copies of old testimonies provided by the chronicler Guillermo José Schael, has set out to rescue for the city’s memory scenes that have already been erased by urban growth. In the central courtyard of the Museum, models of the old ones will be presented, both automobiles and trains. The evening will be enlivened with music from the old “retreta” (military band performance) of Plaza Bolívar. Alvarez Lugo’s collection of paintings includes scenes of the historic center and the surroundings of Caracas. The Museum’s board of directors has not issued special invitations and expects to have the presence of numerous families who take their children to this place where there are plenty of reasons of interest for the history of the city.

Hoy Muestra el Museo del Transporte Antiguos Automóviles Restaurados
Hoy en la sede del Museo del Transporte a partir de las 11 de la mañana serán mostradas al público algunas unidades de hace más de medio siglo y un automóvil que tiene 85 años que ha sido puesto en actividad, dicho vehículo fue donado por don Armando Planchart a la institución. Al mismo tiempo será inaugurada una exposición del artista Luis Alvarez de Lugo. La foto corresponde a uno de sus cuadros. Este pintor conjuntamente con documental gráfico que le ha dado el ambiente recuperado del Museo y las copias de antiguos testimonios en blanco y negro que le ha proporcionado el cronista Guillermo José Schael se ha propuesto rescatar para la memoria de la ciudad escenas que ya fueron borradas por el crecimiento urbano. En el patio central del Museo serán presentados modelos antiguos, tanto de automóviles como de trenes. La velada será amenizada con música de la antigua retreta de la Plaza Bolívar. La colección de cuadros de Alvarez Lugo, incluye escenarios del centro histórico y de los alrededores de Caracas. La directiva del Museo no ha cursado invitaciones especiales y espera contar con la presencia de numerosas familias que llevan sus niños a este lugar donde sobran motivos de interés para la historia de la ciudad.
