Award Ceremony at the “Reverón” Gallery
With the presentation of awards to the four winners of the contest, the Collective Exhibition at the Sala Armando Reverón was closed yesterday at eleven in the morning. This exhibition was inaugurated precisely to establish the “Inauguration Prize,” consisting of a Diploma of Honor for the winning artists. Professor José Antonio Calcaño was responsible for presenting the awards and delivering words of encouragement and inspiration for the new generations of Venezuelan painters.
The prizes were awarded to the following works:
- First Prize: to “Otoño” (Autumn), a lacquer by Isa de Wries.
- Second Prize: to the oil painting “Estudio” (Study) [by Luis Alvarez de Lugo].
- Third Prize: to the oil painting “Muñeca” (Doll) by Luis A. Rojas Martínez.
- Fourth Prize: to “Desnudo” (Nude) by Marcos Castillo.
In the photograph, Mr. Luis Fernando Alvarez de Lugo* (winner of the second prize) appears at the moment of receiving his diploma from Professor José Antonio Calcaño. The event was attended by a large representation of our artistic circles, and among those present was Adriano Serradimigni, one of the enthusiastic promoters of the contest.

Entrega de Premios en la Galería “Reverón”
Con la entrega de premios a los cuatro ganadores del certamen fue clausurada ayer a las once de la mañana la Exposición Colectiva en la Sala Armando Reverón, inaugurada precisamente con esta exposición, a la cual se instituyó el “Premio Inauguración”, consistente en Diploma de Honor para los artistas ganadores. Y correspondió al Profesor José Antonio Calcaño entregar los premios y pronunciar palabras de estímulo y aliento para las nuevas generaciones de pintores venezolanos.
Los Premios fueron otorgados a las siguientes obras:
- Primer Premio: a “Otoño”, una laca, de Isa de Wries.
- Segundo Premio: al óleo “Estudio” [de Luis Alvarez de Lugo].
- Tercer Premio: al óleo “Muñeca” de Luis A. Rojas Martínez.
- Cuarto Premio: al “Desnudo”, de Marcos Castillo.
En la gráfica aparece el señor Luis Fernando Alvarez de Lugo*, ganador del segundo premio, en el momento de recibir el respectivo diploma del Profesor José Antonio Calcaño. Al acto asistió una numerosa representación de nuestros círculos artísticos y entre los presentes se encontraba Adriano Serradimigni, uno de los entusiastas promotores del certamen.
